Rare Disease Day, May 15th 2011

On May 15th 2011 the fourth Rare Disease Day will be held in Artis, Amsterdam for all people with a rare disease and those who encounter it on a daily basis. The purpose of Rare Disease Day is to raise awareness for all people in the Netherlands that have a rare disease. On this day, hundreds of children and adults with rare diseases come together to talk about their specific problems. Children and adults have the opportunity to meet eachother, to enjoy a day out, and to be inspired to take action themselves.
On this day will the winner of the Rare Angel Award will be announced. The jury consists of representatives of the organizers of the Rare Disease day: VSOP, KNMP, Zeldzame Ziekten Fonds and the Stuurgroep Weesgeneesmiddelen, together with the winners of previous years. There are  four nominees of which two people who are very familiar in the neuromuscular field: Maryze Schoneveld van der Linde and Elizabeth Vroom. Read more
