January 9th: Symposium Neuromuscular disorders

On the 9th of January the yearly Prinses Beatrix Fonds Symposium neuromuscular disorders was held with the central theme 'From disease to gene to cure'.

The symposium was a success with attendance of 130 people working on or interested in neuromuscular disorders. During the different presentations, the audiance was able to actively participate in the different discussions by voting for certain answers. At this symposium the prize for the best neuromuscular paper published in 2008 was handed to Maarten Titulaer for his paper 'Screening for small-cell lung cancer: a follow-up study of patients with Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome’ which was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology in September 2008. The prize was given to him by Laetitia Griffith, chairman of the Prinses Beatrix Fonds.
